Movers and Shakers for November 2023

Tanya Belcheff: Frontier Nursing University named the nurse-midwifery program assistant professor as the Kentucky-based school’s director of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Monica Bertagnolli: The former National Cancer Institute director officially took over as the National Institutes of Health director, following a Senate confirmation in early November. Bertagnolli is the first surgeon to hold the position.

Brendan Carr: Mount Sinai Health System officials announced the emergency medicine leader as the New York-based system’s next CEO. Carr, a professor in emergency medicine at Icahn Mount Sinai and emergency medicine chair for the health system, will take over for Kenneth Davis. Davis, who has served as CEO since 2003, will become the executive vice chairman for the Mount Sinai Boards of Trustees. The appointments will take effect in early 2024.

Rob Cohen: Musculoskeletal care management Livara Health appointed the former Bamboo Health senior advisor to CEO.

Paige Dahlhausen: Healthcare resources provider iCliniq named the former Inspire VP of business development as its new head of sales.

Robert Lasser: Biotech company Noema Pharma announced the biopharma veteran as its new chief medical officer (CMO).

Chad Moore: CareSource announced its VP of network development as its new president for the Kansas market.

Brian Pieninck: The CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield president and CEO was elected chair of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Board of Directors.

Maria Francesca Roccisano: Northwell Lenox Hill Hospital named Roccisano director of child and adolescent psychiatry services for its mental health outpatient center.

Neal Sample: Walgreens Boots Alliance announced the former Northwestern Mutual chief information officer (CIO) as its new EVP and CIO.

Joseph Schachle: Ophthalmic biopharmaceutical company Ocuphire Pharma announced the Opus Genetics COO as its new COO.

Robert Schott: Biopharmaceutical company Rivus Pharmaceuticals named the Nutcracker Therapeutics CMO as its new CMO.

Susan Smith: Centene Corporation announced that its SVP will take over as COO, effective January 1.

Jeff Snodgrass: Ambulatory surgery center services leader AMSURG elevated its president to president and CEO. The announcement came as the company emerged from a restructuring process under new ownership.

John Thompson: The North Carolina Medical Society named the former North Carolina Healthcare Association VP of state government affairs as its VP of advocacy.

Christopher Volker: NeuroOne Medical Technologies Corporation appointed the medtech executive as its COO.
