US News & World Report is once again naming the best in the biz.

The research and media company released its Best Children’s Hospitals rankings for 2024–2025 on Tuesday, an initiative to help guide parents and caregivers make the best healthcare choices for their children.

“When confronted with the daunting task of selecting a hospital for their child’s specialized medical needs, parents and caregivers can use US News’s evaluation of pediatric hospital performance as a valuable resource,” Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at US News, said in a press release.

This year, 10 hospitals made the outlet’s honor roll, which represents the facilities that ranked the highest across the board. Here’s the list, in alphabetical order:

  • Boston Children’s Hospital
  • Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora
  • Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
  • Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
  • Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC
  • Cincinnati Children’s
  • Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio
  • Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, California
  • Seattle Children’s Hospital
  • Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston

US News has ranked the best children’s hospitals since 2007, but for the first time, this year’s list also included the best hospitals for behavioral health. The outlet named 55 providers across the country without rankings, but it plans to begin ordinal rankings next year.

“This year’s inclusion of behavioral health as a new specialty is significant, as one in five US children has a mental, emotional, behavioral or developmental disorder,” Harder added in the release. “US News is responding to the growing mental health crisis among America’s youth by giving families a valuable source of behavioral health data as part of our increasingly comprehensive view of pediatric care.”

US News released rankings for 10 other specialities as well. The specialties and the hospital that ranked number one overall in each category are:

  • Pediatric Cancer: Cincinnati Children’s
  • Pediatric Cardiology & Heart Surgery: Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston
  • Pediatric Diabetes & Endocrinology: Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
  • Pediatric Gastroenterology & GI Surgery: Cincinnati Children’s
  • Pediatric Neonatology: Boston Children’s Hospital
  • Pediatric Nephrology: Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston
  • Pediatric Neurology & Neurosurgery: Boston Children’s Hospital
  • Pediatric Orthopedics: Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
  • Pediatric Pulmonology & Lung Surgery: Cincinnati Children’s
  • Pediatric Urology: Boston Children’s Hospital

US News worked with RTI International, a research and consulting firm based in North Carolina, to conduct this year’s rankings. Researchers reviewed data from 108 children’s hospitals and surveyed 36,000+ physicians. Hospitals that won the top spot in a category were evaluated based on “clinical outcomes, compliance with established best practices, and level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care,” according to US News.

US News also publishes a best hospitals list and, newly, a list of the best hospitals for equitable access.
